Virtue of the Week – Appreciative

“She [my mother] was the force around which our world turned. My mother was propelled through the universe by the brute force of reason. She was the judge in all our arguments. One disapproving word from her was enough to send us off to hide in a corner, where we would cry and fantasize our own martyrdom. And yet. One kiss could restore us to princedom. Without her, our lives would dissolve into chaos.”

Mother’s Day is under a week away and there is not really another holiday that can inspire such deep feelings of being APPRECIATIVE.

Moms brought us into this world, cared for us, nurtured us and pretty much love us no matter what.  They have born witness to all the illnesses, joys, sorrows and lessons that make up our lives.  Without them, where would be be?

Let’s put our APPRECIATIVE Virtue into action this week and find ways to Thank your Mom or a special Mom in your life!

Clean the house; Make all the meals for a day; Give Mom the day (or week!) off from taking care of everyone else; Pack her a picnic lunch and send her out to the park with a good book; Spa Day!; Write her a poem …

There are lots of ways to show how appreciative you are … don’t forget to tell her this week and every week!
