Peanut butter should really be its own food group (at least in my house) so have some fun with Peanut Butter Lovers Month!
In August, a food blogger in the food community lost her husband, Mikey, very suddenly. He left behind not only Jennie from In Jennie’s Kitchen but two beautiful little girls. To remember Jennie’s family this holiday season and Mikey’s memory, please share Jennie’s recipe for Creamy Peanut Butter Pie – it was one of Mikey’s favorites.
To honor Native American Heritage Month – Pioneer Woman Cooks gives us tasty Indian Fry Bread and Indian Taco recipes to test out. have you ever had Indian Fry bread? Warning – it is addicting!
I think that this bread recipe should also count for November 17 – Homemade Bread Day!
A Gluten Free option is important and Shauna at Gluten Free Girl and the Chef gives us not only a recipe for multi-grain Gluten Free Bread but also shares the process and her insights of baking gluten free bread. Challenging and awesome!
November 2 is Deviled Egg Day – remnants from our summer barbecue days but I love deviled eggs at anytime of the year. I went to two of the Divas of cooking and entertaining for deviled egg recipes: Paula Deen gives us a Traditional Southern Deviled Eggs recipe with pickled relish mixed in but I am also a fan of the spicier counterpart from Martha Stewart – Old Bay Deviled Eggs with a spicy mustard in the mix!
For November 3, Housewife’s Day, we are also going to combine the November 15 Clean our Your Refrigerator Day – our favorite housewife with the handiest tips is Mrs. Bliss at Housewife Bliss and she is getting us ready to present our kitchens for parties with How to Clean Your Pantry in 5 Simple Steps and the Kitchen Deep-Cleaning Guide!
I can’t pick just one favorite sandwich for November 3 – Sandwich Day so we will get some inspiration from our friends at Simply Recipes who have a delicious and comprehensive sandwich recipe collection. Croque Monsieur? Grilled Chicken with Avocado? Comfortable grilled cheese? What is your favorite?
November 12 is not only tummy warming but heartwarming too – Chicken Soup for the Soul Day. What a great day to pop a pot of soup on the stove, curl up on the sofa and read one of the delightful Chicken Soup for the Soul books! Deb from Smitten Kitchen has an awesome Chicken Matzo Ball Soup recipe – a great change from noodles! Which Chicken Soup book is your favorite?
A timely day for sure is November 23 – Eat a Cranberry Day! It lands the day before Thanksgiving this year and since cranberry sauce is on the menu for Thanksgiving Day, I wanted to give you another way to munch on some yummy cranberries – how about Gingerbread Pancakes with Cranberry Syrup from Foodies Unite? Sounds like a yummy morning treat!
November 23 is also Cashew Day – can we fit anymore fun food days of November in? Since Cookin’ Canuck has a delightful recipe for Asian Slaw with Cashews, Pear and Ginger Dressing, I think I can make room for it!
