Tasty Tuesday – Celebrating Food Days of December

We survived Thanksgiving – (we did, right?) and now it is on to the December Holiday Season with parties and Hanukkah and Christmas and New Year’s Eve – a whirlwind of celebrations that are primarily centered around food!

Since it is almost December, for this Tasty Tuesday, we are highlighting the Food Days of December – many that have nothing to do with the holidays but are just a great excuse to eat some great food.  We went to our list of the best bloggers and cooks and entertaining specialists to give us some inspiration for the Food Days of December …

December 2 is National Fritter Day.  Fritters come in all shapes and sizes and delicious additions but we thought the Apple Fritters from Pioneer Woman looked absolutely delish – and her step by step process makes it super easy to create them yourself!

I think that we need a National Brownie Day EVERY month … every week maybe!  December 8 is the time to celebrate National Brownie Day and Bakers Royale have some scrumptious options for the the Brownie enthusiast in you:

If Brownie Day was not enough for you, then December 9 is National Pastry Day!  Zoe Bakes has a perfect combo that fits both National Pastry Day and the holiday season – Sugar Plum Pie with a Folded Flaky Crust.  Time for visions of sugar plums to dance in our heads!

You have just enough time to recover from that sugar coma so that you can have another one on National Ice Cream Day on December 13.  Delish.com has a wonderful and seasonal idea with Chocolate Mint Ice Cream Sandwiches and instead of using peppermint candies – how about candy canes?!  Works for us!

Need a break from the sugar?  We recommend a party for National Bouillabaisse Day on December 14 and La Tartine Gourmand has a simplified Fish Bouillabaisse recipe to highlight your party!  This recipe has been adapted from recipes in Marseilles – the birthplace of bouillabaisse.  Bon Appetit!

After making a hearty bouillabaisse, National Lemon Cupcake Day on December 15 comes along to give us another reason for dessert.  Lemon-Cream Cheese Cupcakes anyone?  Here is a yummy recipe from Kitchen Daily and Kraft to bring some lemony sunshine to your mid-December!

December 16 is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day.  My kind of holiday.  I could live with just about anything dipped in chocolate!  Here are a few favorites:

December 24 is not just Christmas Eve but it is also considered National Chocolate Day!  Take your pick for this day since we are all celebrating around the Yule Tree – what kind of Christmas Eve chocolate traditions are part of your holidays?  We always leave chocolate chip cookies for Santa – I have it on good authority that those are his favorites.

December 24 is also National Eggnog Day – does it get better than this?

For the adults, Daydreamer Desserts has a divine treat to celebrate Eggnog – try this Cinnamon Bun Eggnog Martini.  Let that sink in for a moment.  I am simply in awe.

Another option is the Holiday Cheer Eggnog Latte Recipe from Savory Sweet Life – I am going to be stocking lots of eggnog this holiday season!

December 25 is, of course, Christmas and Brown Eyed Baker has a dizzying 75 of the Best Christmas Recipes all in one post!  From appetizers to breads and pastries to candy and cookies, there is a recipe for everyone.
